How Start Inhibit actually behaves
This is the feature people ask about most, so here’s how lincoln.com describes it:
- If the vehicle is running when you turn it on, it keeps running until it’s switched off. After that, it won’t start.
- Remote start won’t work while Start Inhibit is on.
- In Accessory Mode, the request is stored and takes effect once the vehicle is turned off. The app shows a “Slide to Cancel” option until then.
- Lost your phone or PIN? Lincoln’s call center (1-844-306-0802) will verify your identity and help you turn it off.
- In an emergency, if someone is in danger or needs medical attention, call 911 first.

How to activate the Lincoln Security Package
Per lincoln.com, the package needs the Lincoln app (formerly the Lincoln Way app), modem activation, an activated plan, vehicle connectivity and a phone with push notifications turned on. In practice:
- Download the Lincoln app and sign in to (or create) your Lincoln Account.
- Add your vehicle and make sure its modem is activated.
- Open the Connected Services tile in your Lincoln Account and activate the four-year included Lincoln Security Package. Lincoln says no credit card is required.
- Turn on push notifications for the Lincoln app. Without them, Theft Alerts won’t reach you.
- Add the other drivers in your household as authorized users so they get alerts and can use Start Inhibit too.
- Save the Stolen Vehicle Services number, 1-844-306-0802, in your phone.

What to do if your Lincoln is stolen
Lincoln’s step-by-step process, once you’ve safely confirmed the vehicle is gone:
- Call the police and file a report. Write down the report number and the officer’s contact information.
- Call Lincoln at 1-844-306-0802 (or contact them through the Lincoln app). The agent verifies the police report, starts tracking the vehicle’s location, disables factory reset and emails you a case summary. The call center stays in contact with police and shares updated locations.
- Recovery. Police tell you when the vehicle is recovered. You then call Lincoln back to stop tracking and start Recovery Mode, and you’ll get a confirmation email.
Lincoln notes that tracking uses the vehicle’s cellular connection and GPS, so it can be affected by signal loss, coverage or the vehicle’s surroundings. Stolen Vehicle Services works in the United States and Canada.
After any theft or break-in, have the vehicle checked. You can schedule service at Team Lincoln Las Vegas.
What happens after year four?
- The trial runs four years from the new-vehicle warranty start date, not from the model year. Ask us to confirm the date on your paperwork.
- After four years, purchase is required to keep the service. lincoln.com doesn’t list a renewal price on its Security Package page, so check the Connected Services tile in your Lincoln Account as your trial nears its end.
- You can cancel at any time through the same Connected Services tile.
- It isn’t the Connectivity Package. Lincoln sells the Connectivity Package (Wi-Fi data, streaming and Google built-in) separately, with its own trial and terms.
- Deductible Reimbursement isn’t included on new purchases. Some reviews still mention insurance Deductible Reimbursement, but lincoln.com says vehicles purchased on or after June 30, 2026 are not eligible.
A few Las Vegas notes
- Wind and traffic can trigger alerts. Lincoln says large passing trucks, heavy traffic, wind and weather can set off Theft Alerts. On a gusty valley afternoon or parked near a busy road, an alert doesn’t always mean someone’s at your vehicle. Check the app before you react.
- Leaving the car for a while? Lincoln suggests Start Inhibit when you’ve lost a key or will leave the vehicle unattended for some time. Long-term airport parking during a trip is a good example.
- Your phone is the key to all of it. Set up the app before you need it, not after.
Shopping from Summerlin, The Lakes, Southern Highlands or Centennial Hills
Owning a Lincoln shouldn’t add errands either. New Lincolns are covered by Lincoln Pickup & Delivery: per lincoln.com, a Lincoln Service Valet will come anywhere within 20 miles of your preferred retailer (50 miles for Black Label owners), pick up your vehicle for service and leave you a Lincoln Loaner. It covers Lincoln vehicles within four years of the new-vehicle warranty start date or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to retailer availability.
